My Dad

Dad in the hyperbaric chamber (photo courtesy my sister April)

I was on my way to pick the kids up from school on Friday and had a feeling I needed to call my parents. They were driving to the doctor when I called because my dad suddenly could not see out of his left eye - everything just went black. My mom called me back a little while later crying and saying that they were at the ER and things were not looking good for my dad's vision. The kids wanted to know why I was crying. As soon as I told them, Matthew asked, "Heavenly Father can fix anything right Mom?" and he started to say a prayer. He said, "Dear Heavenly Father, I have the best Grandpa in the whole world. Please help him see so he can keep playing with me." I know my dad will continue to be the best grandpa in the world, whether he can see or not, but right now I'm really hoping Matthew's sweet little prayer is answered with a yes.

Changes

Yesterday, I was running errands close to John's work, so I called and asked him to lunch. He climbed into my car and, like every time he gets in my car, turned to say hi to the kids. Only, the kids were at school. We have discovered more alone time - more than our once a month "date night." It felt a little strange, but good, to be just the two of us in the middle of a week day again.

Up until last Sunday, the only calling/church assignment I've had is in enrichment, either on a committee or as enrichment leader. I was pretty darn comfortable with it, and loved it. Now I get to be 1st counselor in Relief Society. I'm super excited, yet super nervous (about teaching-yikes).

Kylie and Matthew are doing so great in school. I went to sit down and do Matthew's reading with him last night, and Kylie said she would do it for me. I was a little apprehensive, but listened over their shoulders and she did just as good as I would have - how awesome is that?

So, things are changing, but it is all good.
